Thermal stress reduction for a Czochralski grown single crystal
In this paper an optimal control approach for thermal stress reduction inside a Czochralski grown single crystal is presented. Using the lateral heat flux as a control variable, an optimal control formulation for minimizing thermal stress with a given crystal shape is derived. Since thermal stress is also affected by the lateral shape of crystals during growth, the level of the stress can be re...
متن کاملLuminescence and scintillation characterization of Silver doped KCl single crystal grown by Czochralski technique for photonic applications
In this study, the scintillation and optical properties of pure and silver doped potassium chloride (KCl:Ag) single crystals were reported. Pure and doped KCl bulk single crystals with a good optical quality and free from cracks were grown from the melt using Czochralski technique. Different analysis methods were used to study the optical and scintillation properties of the grown crystals. The ...

We demonstrate highly efficient diode-pumped single-frequency fiber laser with 35% slope efficiency and 50mW output power operating near 2μm, which generated from a 2-cm long piece of highly Tm-doped germanate glass fiber pumped at 800nm. ©2007 Optical Society of America OCIS code: (060.2320) Fiber optics amplifiers and oscillators; (140.3570) Lasers, single-mode; (140.5680) Rare earth and tran...
متن کاملSingle-Frequency 1 μm Laser for Field Applications
We have just completed the final phase of an Advanced Technology Initiative Program (ATIP) funded effort to develop the 1 μm pump source needed for ozone DIAL and other lidar systems. The output of this program was a brassboard version of a robust, singlefrequency oscillator/amplifier that achieved 500 mJ/pulse at 20 Hz with an M of 3 or 300 mJ/pulse at 50 Hz with an M of 1.5.
متن کاملSingle Photon Infrared Emission Spectroscopy: A Study of IR Emission from UV Laser Excited PAHs between 3 and 15 μm
Single-photon infrared emission spectroscopy (SPIRES) has been used to measure emission spectra from polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). A supersonic free-jet expansion has been used to provide emission spectra of rotationally cold and vibrationally excited naphthalene and benzene. Under these conditions, the observed width of the 3.3-μm (C-H stretch) band resembles the bandwidths observed...
